1. Data Controller

The controller for data processing on this website and in the TellAndReply app is:

2. Data Collection in the App

TellAndReply does not collect any personal data.

The app has no server of its own. There is nowhere for it to send data to. In detail:

  • No telemetry: The app sends no usage data, crash reports or analytics to us or to third parties.
  • No user account: No registration and no sign-in is required.
  • Local storage: Templates, contacts, groups and settings live on your device and, if you use sync, additionally in your own private iCloud database.
  • No advertising: The app contains no advertising and no tracking services.

3. Contacts, Location and Music

The app asks for three permissions, each one only at the moment you use the matching feature. You can decline any of them and the remaining features keep working.

  • Contacts: During import you pick a contact yourself. Only the name and the phone number you chose are stored. The app does not read your address book in the background.
  • Location: When a location placeholder is filled in, the app determines your current position and turns it into an address through Apple services. The value goes into your message. We do not store it.
  • Media: For the music placeholders the app reads the track currently playing. Nothing from your library is transmitted.

4. iCloud Sync

Sync between your devices runs through CloudKit in the private database of your own iCloud account. As the developer we have no access to that database. Apple is responsible for the iCloud service. If you switch iCloud off for the app in the system settings, the data stays on the device only.

5. Sending Messages

TellAndReply does not send messages itself. The finished text is handed to Apple Messages and you press send. What happens after that, over SMS or iMessage, is between Apple and your mobile network operator. We see neither the content nor the recipients.

6. Purchases in the App Store

The purchase of Tell & Reply Pro is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment data and do not learn who bought it. The app merely asks Apple whether an unlock exists for this device.

7. Data Collection on this Website

When you visit this website, the web server automatically records the following data:

  • IP address of the requesting computer
  • Date and time of access
  • Name and address of the retrieved file
  • Website from which the access originates (referrer)
  • Browser and operating system used

This data is kept in server log files and serves only to run the website without disruption. We do not link it to individual people.

Hosting: Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. The servers are located in Germany.

8. Cookies and Analytics

This website uses no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Language selection works through separate addresses, so no preference has to be saved. We use no analytics tools such as Google Analytics. Your visit is not evaluated.

9. Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Since we store no personal data about you, neither in the app nor on the website, these rights have little to act on in practice. You are welcome to contact us with any question, and you may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

10. Changes to this Policy

We adapt this policy when the legal situation or our offering changes.
