TellAndReply
TellAndReply · Templates for SMS and iMessage

Write it once. Send it again and again.

The same message twice a week, only the date changes. TellAndReply keeps your wording as a template, asks for what is different and hands the finished text to Messages.

How it works

Three taps to a finished message

The wording stays. Only the details change.

  1. 1

    Write the template

Type the message once and drop in a placeholder wherever the wording changes. "Running late, I will be there at [Time]."

  2. 2

    Fill in the details

When you send, the app asks for exactly those spots. A time picker for the time, your current address for the location, nothing typed twice.

  3. 3

    Send it

The finished text lands in Apple Messages with the recipient already set. You read it over and press send.

Features

Everything you need for recurring messages

Built for the messages you write again and again: running late, on my way, see you at.

Templates and favourites

Keep your wordings in one place and mark the ones you use daily. Favourites sit in their own tab, one tap away.

22 placeholders

Date, time, weekday, minutes and hours from now, digits, amounts, address, recipient name and the track you are listening to.

Contacts and groups

Import contacts from your address book and bundle them into groups. One message to the whole team, the club or the family.

Location without typing

City, street, postcode, full address or country, taken from where you are right now. Your location is used for the message and not stored anywhere else.

iCloud sync

Templates, contacts and groups follow you from iPhone to iPad through your own private iCloud database. Included, no extra charge.

Apple Messages does the sending

The app never sends on its own. It prepares the text and opens Messages, so SMS and iMessage behave exactly as you know them.

Placeholders

The parts that change every time

A placeholder marks a spot in the text. When you send, the app asks for that spot and puts the value in.

"Sorry, running late. I will be there at [Time] in [City]."

Privacy

Your messages stay yours

A messaging helper reads contacts, location and your music. That is a lot of trust, so here is exactly what happens with it.

No server of ours

The app has no backend. There is no address it could send your templates or contacts to.

No account, no tracking

No registration, no analytics, no advertising. We do not learn that you use the app, let alone what you write.

iCloud stays private

Sync runs through your own private iCloud database. Apple grants us no access to it and we never asked for any.

Permissions only when needed

Contacts, location and music are read the moment you use them and only then. iOS asks first, and no is a valid answer.
